The Cape Academy strives to be at the forefront in the education of Mathematics, Science and Technology.

Mission Statement

The Cape Academy strives to develop the full potential of each learner so that they may take up their full positions in society; as caring, self-confident, responsible and well-rounded citizens. Who will make a difference in their respective communities and in the world. To uphold sound ethical values of people who are proudly South African.

Why was this school opened?

  • In 2004, the Cape Academy of Mathematics, Science and Technology (CAMST) opened its doors to learners from socio-economically challenged communities, especially from rural areas. These learners were gifted in Maths and science. The mandate given was to allow these learners to be exposed to and to participate in Provisional, National and International Olympiads, competitions and conferences.
  • Preparation for future employment.
  • To be of service to our country, community and our world.
  • To make a difference where we are.
  • Originally an LSEN and special focus STEM school with only GR 10-12.
  • The school in 2016 became a focus STEM school with normal public status and took in its first GR 8s. We have more local learners as well as learners from rural areas in our hostels as well as day learners.
  • Despite losing the special status, we continue to deliver the mandate expected of a STEM school.
